Look Great Naked Diet
Eat the "right combination of the right amounts of the right foods" to attain a lean physique, promises personal trainer/women's-fitness expert Brad Schoenfeld in The Look Great Naked Diet. In this follow-up to Look Great Naked: Slim Down, Shape Up and Tone Your Trouble Zones in Just 15 Minutes a Day, Schoenfeld explains how to design a personalized diet program based on the balance of fat-carbohydrate-protein that is right for your body type. He emphasizes "nutrient-dense" (high nutrition and fiber value) carbs, lean protein calculated to your ideal weight, "good" dietary fat, and plenty of water. He covers eating out, supplements, a sample menu plan, and a one-week plan for looking your best for a special occasion. The 10 protein-heavy recipes, however, seem designed more to publicize their fitness model/bodybuilder contributors than to support the LGN principles. They include no nutritional breakdown (after stressing the importance of figuring out your protein-carb-fat intake), no calorie counts, nor even the number of servings (e.g., a pancake recipe includes two cups of oatmeal, 12 egg whites, an ounce of almonds, and an extra 24 grams of protein power). It's hard to see where the fat-free lemon cheesecake made of jello, fat-free cream cheese, and Cool Whip fits with a "nutrient-dense" diet! --Joan Price
